WELCOME

I am Cher - mum to two young children, wife and Artist all in equal measures!

My journey began with a new home, an empty loft space and a desire to do what brings me joy and serenity amidst a hectic life as a mum.

The secret room hidden away on the third floor fast became my playground to explore my creativity and reignite my passion for art.

Away from the never-ending distractions of family life, this allowed me the time and space to escape reality and reconnect with myself.

My work is now exhibited and held in private collections across the UK.

What inspires me?

“Expressionism refers to art in which the image of reality is distorted in order to make it expressive of the artists inner feelings or ideas” Kandinsky.

I see my work as a visual diary and I often look to nature for my inspiration. When responding to these places or experiences I deconstruct the familiar and capture the essence of flowers and landscapes through their forms, colours and lines.

My work has a soft strength.

It is gentle yet striking. I explore energetic marks, movement and soft bleeds of colour. Capturing the dualities - Freedom and restraint.

My art is mixed media but my signature medium is acrylics built up in a series of thin layers that interact on the canvas. When building the layers its a call and response to what has come before, developing a rich history and focusing on the depth, tone and role of transparency. I work with a muted palette and love exploring colour and the effects it can have on my mood.

“Colour is a power which directly influences the soul” Kandinsky.

Each painting is unique and through a distorted focus allows the viewer the feeling of grounding and quietude. I call a painting finished when I want to keep it and hang it in my home.

Creating beautiful timeless art that goes beyond trends.
